Have you ever thought “I'm bad at accents?” Yeah I thought that too Hi, I'm Rachel. I'm a voice and dialect coach here at Language Academia and I help actors explore the voices of contemporary and classical American English. Let's see if you can keep up with the Golden age darling. Welcome to Language Academia. If you want them to believe you make sure they can hear you first. My favorite phrase is “Bless your heart” which has two meanings: It could mean I genuinely have empathy for you “Bless your heart” Or, it could mean “I'm judging you” “Bless your heart” They elongated and lifted the vowels. What I teach Standard American Accent for Film and TV US Southern General and regional accents Various UK regional accents Classic American 20s, 40s, and 60s film accents English language for all levels And also conversational Spanish My favorite thing to teach is the US Southern accent because there is an attitude that comes along with it. The accent can be as strong or as subtle as you want it to be. In classical American speech clarity was everything. Every word was placed carefully, confident, composed, and deliberate. Listen, Darling if you think I'm waiting for a miracle you don't know me at all. That was so Katharine Hepburn. They moved through the ballroom with quiet confidence of those who belong. Think you've got the classic Hollywood charm? and utterly sincere. The conversation lingered… ...making it sound soft. What I'm most proud about my culture is that we have cities that are huge melting pots for culture and languages. So there is always something to learn and there is always really good food to eat. Keep it sharp. I'm so excited to be a part of your learning journey. See you in class We are Language Academia.
