With group sizes kept small, our experienced teachers are able to provide personalized attention to each student, helping them to develop their language skills and achieve their goals. Whether you're looking to improve your Japanese for personal or professional reasons, our online group classes offer the flexibility and convenience to fit your schedule. With each level building upon the skills developed in the previous level, you can be sure that you'll make steady progress towards achieving your language goals. So why wait?   • Each group is limited to 8 students;

  • Levels 1 & 2 - Once a week for 1 hour;

  • Level 3 - Once a week for 1.5 hours;

  • Upgrade to upper levels when you are ready;

  • No mandatory homework.

Deep dive into slang, pop culture, history, formal, informal, and business Japanese, advanced vocabulary, accent reduction, cultural understanding, humor, personal interest building, fluency development.

Mariko Ban

Mariko Ban

Raised and educated in France, Japan, and the U.S., Mariko has a lot in common with new language learners. Learning a new language can be intimidating, but with her extensive experience teaching English and Japanese, she will make her students feel comfortable and empowered in their journeys. Mariko holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in International Relations. She enjoys spending time with her family and dancing (especially ballet!) in her free time.

Hinata Yamana

Hinata Yamana

Konnichiwa! Meet Hinata, a dedicated Japanese tutor with a rich background in language education and cross-cultural experiences. Born and raised in Tokyo, she brings an authentic understanding of Japanese language and culture to the online classroom. Having moved to California at the age of 18, she pursued a Bachelor's degree in Sociology at University of California, Santa Barbara. With a passion for language and education, Hinata has seamlessly transitioned into the role of a Japanese tutor, leveraging their academic background to provide comprehensive support to learners of all levels. During their time at Santa Barbara City College, she excelled in guiding students to reinforce comprehension and language skills, while also assisting professors in managing classroom activities to ensure an optimal learning environment. With a commitment to fostering language proficiency and cross-cultural understanding, Hinata has also contributed to a preschool's dual language immersion program, where she encouraged Japanese preschoolers to excel in both their first and second languages, while promoting cultural exchange among students. As your Japanese tutor, Hinata is dedicated to creating a supportive and enriching learning environment where students can thrive. Kotaro Watanabe

Kotaro Watanabe

Kotaro was born and raised in Japan and moved to New York City to study acting after receiving a BA in English Literature from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. He reads, writes, and speaks Japanese fluently. He has experience teaching Japanese and coaching actors on speaking Japanese to prepare for TV and Film auditions. He is a big fan of Japanese movies. Akira Kurosawa and Yasujiro Ozu are his favorite directors and he can talk on and on about their movies.
